Bihar: 3 dead in oil tanker explosion in Vaishali | Patna News

PATNA: Three persons died on the spot after an oil tanker blasted during welding on Hajipur-Muzaffarpur national highway near Gorhia village under Goraul police station in Bihar’s Vaishali district, on Wednesday.
The tanker blasted when a welding worker was trying to combine some broken parts in the rear side of the tanker. The tanker’s rear side blew off and fell 20 feet far from the welder’s shop on the national highway.
The deceased persons were later identified as driver and helper of the oil tanker and the welder. However, their names could not be known immediately.
Hearing the sound, people of nearby localities gathered near the spot and blocked the Hajipur-Muzaffarpur national highway, leading to a long jam on the highway, which connects Muzaffarpur to Patna via Hajipur and Mahatma Gandhi Setu.
A team of Goraul Police have reached the spot and are trying to clear the road, local people told TOI over phone.
Luckily, the oil tanker was empty. Had it been filled with diesel or petrol, it would have caused a major fire in the area and huge loss of human lives and properties, local people said.
