Mela cops install advanced fire-fighting arrangements | Allahabad News


PRAYAGRAJ: With an objective to make fire proof Magh Mela, the Magh mela police authorities have deployed advanced fire-fighting systems to ensure the safety of pilgrims and devotees during the 44-days Magh Mela.
Interestingly, mela police have roped in as many as 20 Motor Bike Fire Fighting Systems (MBFFS) as part of fire safety measures in all five sectors of mela premises.
These MBFFS will be used as first-aid responder to control fire within no time as they could be easily driven into the narrow lanes of the mela campus. Also, the mela police have also ensured the installation of MCBs (Miniature Circuit Breaker) at all pandals, tents, akharas and government offices to check the cases of short circuit which often cause fire during religious events.
Two days back, state chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra had laid stress to ensure entire magh mela campus fire proof and following which, mela police are making and using advanced fire-fighting arrangements. Apart from deployment of advanced fire-fighting equipment’s and over 500 fire officials, there would be a water hydrant at a distance of every 60 meters inside the mela premises with an aim to offer adequate supply of water in case of any eventuality. SSP (Magh Mela) Rajiv Narayan Mishra told TOI: “Fire department has set up as many as 14 watch towers to maintain a close eye on pandals and tents. These watch towers would help fire personnel to access smoke or fire at pandals or tent, and firemen assigned duties at sector wise fire stations would be immediately taking action to control fire.” MBFFS is the latest and advanced fire-fighting equipment which uses power of the motor bike engine to generate water mist using high pressure pump. It also consists of high pressure driven pump, water tank and high -pressure hose reel fitted with jet gun.
Besides, department has also roped in as many as 20 lightfour-wheeler fire-lighting vehicles which could access into small sectors orpockets in and around mela premises.
The Magh mela police have set up as many as five fire stations and 10 fire outposts on the mela campus.
