One Killed In Katihar, Criminals Fire In Patna | Patna News


PATNA: A farmer was killed and several others reportedly received minor injuries in firing between two rival groups in separate incidents in Patna and Katihar in the last 24 hours over supremacy.
In Katihar, indiscriminate firing took place between two rival groups, during which a farmer working in the field got shot near Teen Muhani Ghat under Kursela police station area on late Wednesday evening. The locals immediately took him to the nearby hospital but he died on the way.
As soon as information about the shooting incident was received, police reached the spot and sent the body to Sadar hospital for postmortem. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Mandal of Chai Tola village. Police started raid in diara area to nab the miscreants.
Deceased’s son Shiv Shankar Kumar, said that his father had gone to work in his farm, during which a dispute took place between the two rival groups at that place in which firing took place from both the sides. “Hearing the gunshots, people started running and his father sustained two bullet injuries,” he said.
Similarly, a total of three rounds firing took place in a fight between two gangs near Baba Chowk area under Patliputra police station in Patna on Wednesday night over supremacy. Policemen from Patliputra and Shastri Nagar police stations reached the spot and conducted raids to nab the accused.
SHO of Patliputra police station, SK Shahi said a case has been registered against six persons in the case including Sonu and Azad on the statement of Sahil Kumar, a resident of Baba Chowk (road number 8). “Around three rounds of firing took place in Patliputra around 6pm on Wednesday. The locals have also confirmed. No arrest has been made in this connection,” he said.
