Bhojpuri Singer and Actors Among Nine Victims of Tragic Accident in Kaimur | Patna News

SASARAM: Frequent calls by event organisers to reach the venue on time probably led to Sunday’s tragic accident in Kaimur that claimed lives of nine people – popular Bhojpuri singer Chhotu Pandey (35), members of an orchestra party and a motorcyclist.
Apart from motorcyclist Dadhibal Yadav (50) who hailed from Kaimur, the other victims were from Bihar’s Buxar district, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The accident took place on NH-19 at Devakali village under Mohania police station in Kaimur district when an SUV, in which the orchestra party members were travelling, collided with a truck after hitting a motorcycle.
Apart from Chhotu, his nephews Anu Pandey (16), Brajesh Pandey (17) and uncle Shashi Pandey (45) died in the accident. They were residents of Dhewaria village under Itarhi police station in Buxar district. The other victims were models Simran Shrivastva (40) of Kanpur and Anchal (23) of Mumbai, as well as SUV driver Prakash Ram (30) and lyricist Satya Parkash Mishra (38) of Buxar. Mohania SDPO Dileep Kumar said the bodies of the victims were handed over to their family members after postmortem.
Chhotu’s father Vijay Shankar Pandey said about two dozen artists, including his son, grandnephews and brother, had left Buxar in three SUVs to perform in a “tilak” ceremony at Gogara village in Kaimur.
“Two vehicles reached the venue on time by taking a shortcut route via Ramgarh. However, the ill-fated SUV in which my son and other family members were travelling chose to take the longer six-lane route. Since they were receiving frequent calls from the organisers to reach the venue on time, the driver was told to increase the speed of the vehicle. However. The driver lost control over the vehicle and it hit a motorcycle.”
