Medical Oxygen Plants: ‘No irregularities in medical oxygen plants’ – State Govt’s Response | Ahmedabad News

Gandhinagar: The state govt informed the assemblyrecently that it has not collected a single sample to test purity of medical oxygen in the state in the past three years, adding that that medical oxygen producers themselves have machines installed to check its purity.
Govt said that as on Dec 31, 2023, there were nine oxygen-producing companies and 85 bottling and refilling plants operating in the state.
Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar sought to know district-wise details of samples collected by govt in the past three years for purity tests. He also sought details of samples that were approved and rejected, besides the steps that govt has been taking to ensure purity of oxygen for medical use.
In reply to the unstarred questions, govt said that it has not collected any samples, but oxygen-producing companies are mandated to test the purity according to standards of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, an official publication containing a list of medicinal products and directions for their use.
Govt further informed the assembly that it regularly inspects all plants of oxygen manufacturers and that no irregularities have been reported in any of them in the past three years. tnn
