Karaikal student shines in painting competition

A student from Karaikal government primary school has secured second prize in the Puducherry State-Level Painting Competition.

The competition was part of the Central Government’s Energy Conservation Awareness Campaign 2024, organised by the Ministry of Power. The event was hosted by the REC Institute at the Annai Theresa Postgraduate and Health Science Research Institute, with participation from students across government and private schools in Puducherry.

Five students from Karaikal participated in the competition, which was held in two categories. In the first category for students of Classes 5, 6, and 7, Anivesh from Ariyankuppam Government Primary School in Puducherry won first place. Monish from a private school in Karaikal and Sadhana from a private school in Puducherry, won second and third places, respectively. In the second category, Krishnathulasi from Mahe secured first place, while Anshika and Prathikshana from Puducherry won second and third places.

The award ceremony was attended by Puducherry Home Minister A. Namassivayam, who distributed prizes to the winners. The first prize was ₹50,000 while the second and third prizes were ₹30,000 and ₹20,000 respectively, along with certificates. Ten students in each category received consolation prizes of ₹7,500 each, along with certificates.
