Mainpuri The families of the victims have got justice after 44 years in the murder of 24 Dalits in the 1982 massacre in Dihuli village. On Tuesday, ADJ Indra Singh of Special Robbery Court sentenced three convicts captain Singh, Ramsevak and Rampal to death. Also, a fine of 50-50 thousand rupees has been imposed on all three. On hearing this punishment, the three convicts started crying. On the other hand, the victims’ families have said that late, but the court has given the right verdict. One accused is absconding, while 13 accused in this case have died.
The case was related to Mukhbiri and testimony, in which the dacoits attacked the village of Dalits with a sense of revenge. On 18 November 1981, 24 Dalits were shot dead in Dihuli village by gangs of dacoits Radheshyam alias Radhe and Santosh alias Santosha. The dead also included women, men and children. After this incident, there was a stir in the whole country and many big leaders including the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi reached Dihuli village to meet the victim families.
17 people were made accused, 13 have died
A total of 17 people were accused in this case, out of which 13 have died and one accused is absconding. Initially, this case was registered in Jasrana police station in Firozabad district, but later the case was transferred here after becoming a Mainpuri district. After hearing for 44 years, the court sentenced the three convicts to death on Tuesday.
Delay in the decision came, got just after 44 years
On hearing the verdict, the three convicts wept. Clain Singh, a convict, described himself as innocent and said that he has been falsely implicated. The victim families expressed satisfaction over the verdict and said that they have got justice after 44 years. Gyan Singh, who lost his Baba, father and uncle in the massacre, told that when he hears about this incident, his tears do not stop. At the same time, Meena Devi said that there is a delay in the decision and now her tears have also dried up.
